In episode 331 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked if one can register a new domain and use it to point the SEO shield, PRs, and other backlinks to the client.

The exact question was:

Q: regarding 301 redirects, can i register a new domain and use it to point all offpage work to instead of to the client (ie a seo shield or any other backlinks such as PR's), and then 301 redirect it to the client (including all individual pages)? Therefore controlling the juice and possibly using it for another domain in similar niche in the future. Or must the 301 redirecting domain be elder than the receiving domain?
