Google is suing a member of a Rank and Rent Facebook group for creating hundreds of fake Google Business Profiles. The lawsuit claims that the defendant engaged in fraudulent verification of nonexistent profiles, posted fake reviews, and sold real business leads from unsuspecting customers. The defendant offered Google Business Profile verification services and made false claims about bypassing Google's verification procedures. They also sold fake reviews outsourced to providers in Bangladesh and Vietnam. Google is seeking triple the amount of actual damages, attorneys fees, and prejudgment interest from the defendants for breaching its terms of service.
